OUR STORY
While AIGNER is looking to the future, the label is proud of its history:
In the 1930s, Hungarian-born Etienne Aigner celebrated his first successes as a bag designer at the Paris Haute Couture shows. In the 1950s, he presented his own collection in New York. For the first time, this collection had the typical "A" in the shape of a horseshoe - from there it went on to Munich. Here, Etienne Aigner met Heiner H. Rankl, a businessman with an unerring feeling for the future and a sense of tradition. And so, the cult brand AIGNER was born in Munich in 1965.
Over the years, the label has evolved into an international luxury brand that has fans all over the world. What has always remained is the commitment to luxury, the love of the product, and of course the world-famous horseshoe logo. To this day, the brand's path is characterised by flexibility and constant development of the DNA combined with fashion spirit.
The label remains loyal to its values and principles and creates timeless products, but at the same time it relies on innovation and sets trends, as with the "Cybill" signature bag. This bag is the most impressive and convincing example of the clear, elegant AIGNER design language. Every season it appears in the colours of the season with special twists. For AIGNER's 55th anniversary, exclusive Cybill specials were produced. The Cybill One of One are luxurious one-offs - unique in the world and finely handcrafted in a manufactory in Florence.
AIGNER's core competence are leather bags and accessories. Every season, creative director Christian Alexander Beck and his team creates handbags that are geared towards trendsetters, but also models that have what it takes to become classic.
The product range also includes watches & jewellery, eyewear, shoes, womenswear & menswear and children's wear - which have been outsourced to licensing partners.
In 2009, AIGNER presented itself for the first time at Milan Fashion Week. The label shows its latest creations from the fashion & leather sector and provides inspiration for the coming seasons in the form of elaborate looks and exclusive bag models.
With the relocation in May of 2019 to the new 4,000 sqm headquarters in Munich, the brand now has a representative showroom, an in-house "Modelleria" and an Archive. "The Archive" is an impressive journey into AIGNER's past - tracing the designs of the past decades. The iconic Cybill Bag, exhibited in all its facets and special editions, stands alongside suitcases, classics and accessories through to genuine collectors' items.
